Flower & Grounds Policy

March 1st through November 1 is our mowing and spraying season. During that time all decorations must be contained to the memorial vase except veteran issued flags and flag staffs. This allows our grounds crew to properly and safely mow, trim and spray the cemetery lawn.

Nothing is ever allowed on the bronze marker itself as it causes damage to the Diamond Coat finish on the memorial and will void the factory warranty. Bronze markers will eventually wear to a beautiful patina similar to that on the Statue of Liberty after many years. Markers purchased at Riverview can be reset to accommodate any shifting or sinking with a phone call or email request.

We encourage families to turn down the vase on their headstone and use grave blankets, wreaths or memory lights throughout the winter months. Turning down and storing vases helps prevent freezing and cracking. We do not replace lost, cracked or stolen vases. Our grounds crew will remove any items still left at the grave after March 1st. March is cemetery cleanup. Please refrain from placing flowers until April 1st or Easter, whichever comes first.

No landscaping materials such as, shrubs, perennials, annuals, etc. are allowed on the grave. Do not place any rock around the headstones. The granite border of the bronze memorial is the border. Rock will be removed as it destabilized the headstones causing them to sink and encourages weed growth if not meticulously maintained. Trees may be arranged and purchased through the cemetery office if the location is approved. All trees must be purchased through the cemetery.

Artificial flowers will be removed and the vases turned down once they become discolored or wind damaged.

Memory lights, shepherd's hooks, wind chimes and wreaths are not permitted during the mowing season.

Nothing can be placed on mausoleum walls except bronze lettering, uniform vases and veteran flags with holders.

Dogs may be walked in the cemetery. Please be respectful of others and clean up after them.

order to deed the entire contract to one of the parties. The other alternative would be to split

1. Persons found on the grounds before or after sunrise or

sundown, may be considered to be trespassers.

There are no Sunday burials.

4. The Corporation shall have authority to make an interment upon receipt of a written

authorization of a person representing himself or herself to be the surviving spouse, child or

parent, or next of kin, of the decedent, and there shall be no liability against the Corporation

for the making of an interment pursuant to such authorization. When there is ownership of more

than one interment space, the space to be used for interment also shall be designated in writing by

such person. If such interment order is not obtained, the Corporation in its descretion may select

such space as it deems best and proper, so as not to delay the funeral.

5. All ground burials are required to use a vault whether full size or cremation. Only vaults

approved by the Corporation may be used. No air-seal vaults are allowed. We require a probable

The removal of the headstone is billed at the same price as an installation unless the

headstone is being left to the cemetery for disposal. Then the charge is half the installation fee.

A headstone left at the cemetery for more than 30 days is deemed abandoned and may be properly

disposed of by the Cemetery. Should any space be vacated through disinterment and the remains

removed from the cemetery, the space so vacated shall revert to the cemetery and the regular charge

for disinterment will be made as the ground is unsuitable to permit safe burial for many years. The

purchased right of interment has been fulfilled at the time of burial.

11. For everyone’s safety, the speed limit within the cemetery is not to exceed 10 miles per hour.
